**New policy
People have different thoughts about therapeutic massage. Some think of it as a luxury, others as a necessary compliment to their health regime. For me it's more than a business, more than a way to pay my bills and support myself. I build relationships with my clients and hope they realize that their good health is important to me. I'm required to take continuing educations courses and they can be as simple as an online course I can work through in a couple of hours, but I do more than that. I take courses that I have to travel for, courses I have to pay quite a bit of money for, courses where I experience hands on learning. I do this because I love what I do and I want to help my clients as much as I possibly can.
I love creating a safe place where you can relax, let go of your knots and tension and let you reset your nervous system. If you are a regular client you know that I spend time talking to you before your massage to see how you are feeling, give you a chance to take a breath, slow down, and to discuss your health and what you need and expect from your therapeutic massage. When you schedule a massage with me for an hour you get at least 60 minutes of hands on massage time. I usually go over five minutes or more because you probably need it. I schedule time so that you do not feel rushed and that means I am scheduling two hours for your one hour massage.
There is a lot that goes into running a business as many of you may know. I wonder if sometimes people forget that as much as I care about you and your health, this is still my business. I love it and I care for you but I still have to support myself. I don't like to charge people for massages they haven't received but if you book a session with me then I reserve that time for you. If you don't show up or cancel last minute and you don't pay me for that time I can't maintain a business.
I have implemented an invoice system for new clients and clients who cancel frequently. There is a note on the invoice that states the money is non-refundable. The reason for that is obvious. I can't afford to hold space for people who aren't showing up. I won't be able to stay open if people continue to cancel last minute or don't even give me the courtesy of letting me know they aren't going to show up. I only request a 24 hour notice, that's enough for you to know if you are feeling sick and shouldn't come in. I'm asking you to respect my late cancellation/no show policy. It used to be a $50 fee, but now the fee is the full cost of the massage you scheduled.
